Beginner 5K Training for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

Join us for our FREE Beginner 5K Training Program! This 8-week program is designed for beginner runners, walkers and interval runners (those of you who are ready to start running but aren't quite ready to run without a walk break).  Our goal event will be the Susan G. Komen of Virginia Blue Ridge Race for the Cure 5K on Sat, Apr 25.  Here are some of the key details:

Kick-Off Meeting on Sun, Feb 16 at 5pm at RunAbout Sports Roanoke  

 

Kick-Off Workout on Sun, Mar 1 at 1pm at Starr Hill Brewery

Training officially starts the week of Mar 2

All registered participants receive a free training plan, designed specifically for beginner runners, walkers or interval runners.

 

We will have a closed Facebook Group for participants, along with weekly emails.

Organized group workouts take place on Sundays at 1pm meeting at the Starr Hill Brewery.  Participants can also join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays at our Pub Runs to get in their workouts (coaches are not guaranteed at those workouts).  Attending workouts is not mandatory!  You do not need to a certain fitness level to come to our group workouts. We have leaders and we have sweeps.  Any fitness level is welcome and encouraged. The distance you cover in the time that we meet is totally up to YOU. There is no expectation from us that you are faster, stronger, or more fit than anyone else. Fitness and health is person-dependent so no two individuals running or walking the same pace have the same needs. Do what is best for you. We are here to support whatever that may be for you.

 

 

Any registered participant who also registers for the Race for the Cure will receive a FREE RunAbout Sports shirt to wear at the event (and yes, it will be PINK!)
